Randolph School Celebrates 60th Anniversary

WAPPINGER FALLS – The Randolph School is celebrating its 60th year as an educational institution that nurtures a sense of wonder in every child, every day. Randolph is kicking off a whole year of celebrations with their open air music festival, The Randolph Rumpus, on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

This all-ages, all-family event will reflect how we live and learn at Randolph, featuring music tied to the heart of Randolph, along with activities like face painting, crafting, nature play, ensuring a fun-filled day for all. Local folk and family musicians, Mike + Ruthy of the Mammals and a special performance by Gwen Laster and Damon Banks, as well as alumni acts spanning the school’s 60 year legacy will round out the day. Food and drinks will be provided by the school’s Parent Group and additional entertainment provided by Randolph alumni and alumni parents, faculty and alumni faculty. This event is generously sponsored by local community leaders such as Palace Dumplings, Oakwood Friends School, Gabby Grace Landscaping and Masonry, INC., Peaceful Provisions, Viscount Wine and Liquor, Catamount Mountain Resort, and School of Rock Beacon.

“In a world where things are constantly changing, we’re grateful to celebrate a timeless legacy. This community was founded with fun in mind, and we look forward to welcoming our friends and neighbors into it.” It is such an honor to be able to celebrate 60 years of progressive, whole-child education with the (first annual) Randolph Rumpus! Randolph started as a dream by three passionate parents and educators to create a school where a lifelong love of learning and wonder was sparked in every child and tended to by every adult. Today, this legacy lives on, and among many things, it is the consistent commitment to childhood and the community’s mission that speaks to me as an educator and also as a parent. I am inspired by the careful curation of curricular experiences, facilitated by the most capable and compassionate teachers in the Hudson Valley, that stem from the interests of children. At Randolph, there is something from everyone and something for everyone, and the same is true of the Rumpus!

The event will double as a FUNdraiser for the school, with proceeds supporting its Stone Soup tuition model, ensuring many more years of nurturing every child’s sense of wonder. The (first annual) Randolph Rumpus will be held in the school’s amphitheater (2467 Route 9D Wappingers Falls, NY 12590), from 1-6PM and, as we are an outdoor school, the event will be rain or shine.

Tickets are on sale now and, for a limited time, discounted tickets will be offered until September 28 (Full price day-of), and a discount off a commemorative T-Shirt if it is pre- ordered with a ticket.
