Tough Day For MSMC Blue Knights Volleyball

NEWBURGH – Saturday the Knights hosted the Kean University Cougars and the Brooklyn College Bulldogs for a non-conference tri-match. The home team played in the first and third matches of the day, and were able to rest during the second match as the two visiting teams played.

The first match of the day was Kean Uni. vs. MSMC. The match got off to a rocky start, dropping the first set (25-9). But the Knights rallied hard in the second (25-23) and third set (26-28). Unfortunately, the cougars regrouped and took the fourth set (25-10) from the Knights. The stat leaders for the first game were Jonaiya Williams with 12 kills, Aubriana Boyce with 18 assists, and Vanessa Mleczko with 12 digs.

The third and final match of the day was The Mount vs Brooklyn College. The teams battled back and forth through each set. Each of the first two sets the Bulldogs managed to overpower the Knights. But, like the first game, the home squad battled back. Pushing the set into a tie breaker, the battle continued until unfortunately, the score fell in the favor of the visitors.

Stat leaders for the third match were. Jonaiya Williams 9 kills, Erin Lema 4 aces, Allie Kenney with 7 assists, and Isabella Israel with 16 digs.

The Knights will look to get back on track against their next opponent SUNY Old Westbury on Thursday Oct 12th.
