WALTHAM, MA – The Vassar College Women’s Swimming and Diving team hit the road for the first time this season and came away with a 166.5-128.5 victory at Brandeis Saturday afternoon. The Brewers won 10 events in the meet with Bella Ripon winning three events in the victory.
Saturday’s win pushes Vassar to 2-0 through the first two competitions of the season.
For The Brewers
Rippon scored victories for the Brewers in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.10), 200-yard backstroke (2:15.25) and 200-yard individual medley (2:21.21). All three victories came in season best times.
Addie Weiner scored a pair of individual wins on Saturday, topping the field in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:26.25) and tying for the victory with teammate Maleigha Vietti in a time of 5:30.02, with each swimmer posting a season best time.
Anna Little turned in a strong performance on Saturday, winning the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events in times of 1:11.72 and 2:36.50, both times marking season best marks.
Vivien Li scored two victories for Vassar on Saturday, coming home first in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.26) and 100-yard butterfly (1:00.48), also swimming season best times in each event.
Vassar also saw strong swims on Saturday from Alejandra Robins who posted second place finishes in both butterfly events, swimming a season best time of 2:17.41 in the 200-yard event and adding a season best mark of 1:00.92 in the 100-yard race.
Sarah Quintana added two season best times on Saturday, swimming to a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.98) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.78).
Quintana also recorded a runner-up finish for Vassar in the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.85).
Maya Luongo posted a pair of runner-up finishes on Saturday for Vassar, taking the second spot in the 50-yard freestyle (25.75) and the 100-yard freestyle (56.53).
First Year Lara Chebotarev recorded a pair of third place finishes for the Brewers, swimming season best times in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.78) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:45.91).
In diving, competitors competed in the 1-meter event twice, with First Year Elizabeth Surgent taking second in the first set of dives with a score of 172.35 and third in the second set with a mark of 122.40.
Vassar also had a strong day in the relay events with the ‘A’ team of Li, Little, Robins and Luongo opening the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley event with a time of 1:28.21.
To close the day, the 400-yard freestyle team of Luongo, Wiener, Alanna Muello and Quintana posted a victory in a season best swim of 3:50.66.
Vassar looks to continue a strong start to the season on October 27 when it travels to Montclair State.
