Vassar Cross Country Team Makes History

GENEVA – The #20 Vassar College Women’s Cross Country team earned its first ever Liberty League Championship on Saturday afternoon as the Brewers edged #28 St. Lawrence for the title at Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva. Vassar earned the top spot with 49 points out of nine total teams with the Brewers posting seven student-athletes in the top 21 spots in the race.

VASSAR’S TOP FINISHERS
First year Haley Schoenegge was the top finisher for Vassar as she earned All-Liberty League First Team honors following a third place finish in a time of 22:15.0.

First years Norah Reade and Cayley Swaim along with sophomore Anika Mueller-Hickler each earned All-Liberty League Second Team honors as Reade finished eighth in 22:33.5, Swaim crossed the finish line in ninth in 22:34.1 and Mueller-Hickler was 10th overall with a time of 22:36.3.

Junior Anna Kaigle, senior Amaavi Miriyagalla and first year Acadia Helfand all received All-Liberty League Honorable Mention honors as Kaigle was 19th overall with a time of 23:04.7, Miriyagalla was 20th in 23:15.3 and Helfand recorded a 21st place finish in a time of 23:16.3.

Junior Noni Pattington posted a strong race with a 23rd overall finish in 23:29.7 along with sophomore Nora Goldberg-Courtney finishing 27th overall with a time of 23:39.6.
