Ulster Falls to Suffolk in the Regional Semi-Final

The Senators played Suffolk back on September 2nd in their second game of the season and lost 5-1. After the loss, the Senators went on a 12 game unbeaten streak and now found themselves headed back to Long Island seeking revenge with their season on the line. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be Ulster. The Senators defense fought hard all day, but offensively they were unable to find a good rhythm. Both teams battled to a 0-0 draw at halftime, but Suffolk would find the opening goal in the 70th min on a well placed corner kick giving the home side a 1-0 lead. Ulster immediately pushed for the equalizer and in the 74th min felt they should have been awarded a penalty when a player was taken down in the box, but there was no call from the official. Suffolk would then double their lead in the 80th min on a beautiful finish to upper corner. The score would end 2-0. Ulster keeper Cody Baker made 3 saves on the day. The #7 nationally ranked Senators end 2023 with a 11-2-2 record.

Coach Lis-Simmons said, “I’m extremely proud of our team. Today wasn’t our day, but our guys gave everything they had. We lost to a good team. It hurts in the moment, but our guys have a lot of proud of. They raised the bar for our program and we’re excited about what the future holds.”
