Vassar College Women’s Swimming Top Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS – The Vassar College Women’s Swimming and Diving team picked up its third victory in four outings to start the season on Saturday with a 181-110 road win at Skidmore. The Brewers won 11 events in the meet and took the top three positions in a pair of events against the Thoroughbreds.

Saturday’s victory improves the Brewers to 3-1 overall on the season through four meets.

Vassar took the top three positions in both the 100-yard backstroke and 400-yard individual medley on Saturday and also added second through fourth place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle.

Bella Rippon won the 100-yard backstroke for the Brewers (2:13.84) and was followed closely by Vivien Li in second (2:14.78) and Sarah Quintana in third (2:15.06).

Rippon closed a strong day with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.41) while Li added a second-place swim in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.67).

The 400-yard IM debuted on Saturday with First Year Anna Little taking the top spot (4:51.38), Quintana placing second (4:57.36) and Maleigha Vietti taking the third position (5:04.18).

In the 50-yard freestyle, Abigail McLaughlin scored a runner-up finish in a season best time (25.89) with Alanna Muello following in third (26.24) and Lilly Masters taking fourth (27.08).

McLaughlin also supplied first place points for the Brewers in the 100-yard freestyle in a season best swim (55.91).

Quintana scored a victory for Vassar in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.02).

Vietti took the top spot in the 1,000-yard freestyle for Vassar (11:17.62).
Alejandra Robins had a big meet for the Brewers, swimming to first place finishes in season best times in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.91) and 100-yard butterfly (1:00.60).

Little added a second victory for Vassar in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:35.09).

Addie Wiener swam to a win for the Brewers in the 500-yard freestyle (5:25.65) and added a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.09).

Quinn Hoagland turned in a runner-up finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:19.89) and a third-place swim in the 500-yard freestyle (5:30.68).

Lara Chebotarev finished second on Saturday in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.64) and went on to take third in the 200-yard event (2:42.96).

Maya Luongo turned in a third-place finish for Vassar in the 100-yard freestyle (57.50).

In diving, Zoe Hoiland earned a runner-up score in the 1-meter event with a score of 179.33.

First Year Elizabeth Surgent produced a third-place score of 111.98 off the 1-meter board and finished second with a mark of 171.08 off the 3-meter board.

Both of Vassar’s ‘A’ relay team collected wins on Saturday with the team of Quintana, Little, Muello and Luongo opening the day with a winning time of 1:52.94 in the 200-yard medley race.

To close the day, the squad of Luongo, Robins, Wiener and McLaughlin bested the field in the 400-yard freestyle event in 3:48.08.

Vassar returns home for the first time since October 11 when it hosts RPI this Saturday.
