Marist Men’s Basketball Triumphs In UMBC Thriller

BALTIMORE, MD – The Marist men’s basketball team defeated University of Maryland Baltimore County 65-59, Saturday afternoon. The Red Foxes improved to 2-0 on the 2023-24 season.

At the first media timeout, the Red Foxes took a 7-5 lead over the Retrievers. Jadin Collins scored four points for the Red Foxes and Jaden Daughtry sunk a three-point attempt for the Red Foxes lead.

The Red Foxes stretched out a 9-0 run against UMBC midway through the first half. The Red Foxes took a 16-9 lead over the Retrievers.

The Retrievers countered the Red Foxes with a run of their own which cut the Red Foxes’ lead to 21-15 in the first half.

Shortly after, the Red Foxes started a 9-0 run with a layup from Jackson Price. Josh Pascarelli hit a three for the Red Foxes and Jadin Collins and Isaiah Brickner finished two layups, which put the Red Foxes up 28-15.

The Red Foxes took a 36-22 lead into the half against UMBC.

Jaden Daughtry led the Red Foxes in scoring and rebounds with seven points and four rebounds at the half.

In the second half, UMBC cut into the Red Foxes lead 42-34 with 12 minutes left in the game.

The Retrievers went on an 8-0 run with 7:02 left to play which cut into the Red Foxes lead 48-43.

Noah Harris ended the run with a three-point field goal and gave the Red Foxes a 51-43 lead.

UMBC cut into the Red Foxes’ lead 60-57 with one minute to play in the game.

The Red Foxes held off the Retrievers in the final minute of play to win 65-59.
