Vassar Brewers Swim Hard Against RPI

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Vassar College Women’s Swimming and Diving team had a strong showing on Saturday in a hard fought 170-124 loss to visiting RPI. The Brewers won eight events in the meet and had 21 individual season best marks set on the day.
Saturday’s defeat drops Vassar to 3-2 overall on the season.

Addie Wiener continued to dominate the distance freestyle events, winning both the 1,000-yard (10:58.97) and 500-yard (5:22.98) races in season best times. Wiener topped the 1,000-yard field on Saturday by just under seven seconds.

Sarah Quintana turned in a winning swim in the 200-yard backstroke, topping the field in a season best time of 2:08.84.

Bella Rippon bested the field in the 100-yard backstroke on Saturday in a time of 1:00.62.
Anna Little took the top spot in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke races with season best times of 1:10.38 and 2:30.46. Little also added a third-place swim in the 200-yard individual medley (2:16.48).

Alejandra Robins turned in a pair of season best swims on Saturday for the Brewers, winning the 100-yard butterfly (59.77) and taking the runner-up spot in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.65).

Alanna Muello scored a runner-up finish for the Brewers in the 50-yard freestyle (25.30).
Abigail McLaughlin swam to a pair of third-place finishes on Saturday, posting a time of 55.80 in the 100-yard freestyle and a season best time of 2:01.08 in the 200-yard freestyle.

Quinn Hoagland swam to a pair of season best times, taking third in both the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:14.49) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:25.56).

Lara Chebotarev placed third for the Brewers in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.04).

The ‘A’ 200-yard medley relay team of Quintana, Little, Muello and Maya Luongo opened the day with a victory in a time of 1:50.80.

The ‘A’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of McLaughlin, Quintana, Muello and Luongo closed the day with a second-place swim in a time of 3:40.78.

Vassar remains home on Friday, November 17 when it welcomes New Paltz to Kresge Pool.
