Battle of the Skyline Undefeated Was Fierce

NEWBURGH – In a highly anticipated Skyline Conference matchup, the Mount Saint Mary Knights took on the Manhattanville Valiants in a thrilling game. Coming into the contest both teams were 3-0 in Skyline Conference play. A full court battle took place inside the Kaplan Center. But the Valiants walked away with the win with a score of 63-42.

The Knights came out strong and controlled the opening quarter. After a tightly contested second quarter the Valiants took over the lead and led 30-25 at halftime. Despite strong defensive efforts the Valiants controlled the game and walked away with the win. Julianna Kascic led all scorers with 31 points.

Casey Love controlled the boards with 10 rebounds for the Knights. Charlotte Twohig also had a strong defensive game with 6 rebounds. Ciarra Quinn led the Knights offense with 10 points. She also added 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. Lauren Petrie added 7 points, 4 rebounds, and a steal. Rounding out both the offense and the defense was Shannon Phelan who had 6 points and 7 rebounds.

The Mount will play their last home game before the holiday break next Friday in a non-conference matchup against the University of Scranton at 5pm.
