MOUNT VERNON – Pre-K students visited the Education Center on Thursday, December 14, 2023, and were greeted by Acting Superintendent Dr. K. Veronica Smith, dressed as Mrs. Claus, for a tour of the building.
Students visited each department in the Education Center and learned about how they operate to keep the school district running. They learned about tax collection, who pays their teachers and some of the roles of superintendents and administrators.
The children received candy canes and lollipops as they finished their tour.
“The Board of Education is where we work, and this is where we plan so that we can do wonderful things for our students,” said Dr. Smith. “We do this work because we want to make sure that you have a great education and grow up to do wonderful things in your lives.”
