Bard Falls Short Against Belhaven University

The Bard College men’s basketball team came up just short against Belhaven University at the Jack Berkshire Classic in Atlanta, GA, falling 69-60 on Saturday afternoon.

Bard (8-2) had three players in double-digits, with senior Lazaros Panagiounis leading the team with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting. He added five rebounds and two assists. Fellow seniors Rowan Heinze and Heston Tucker had 12 points each. Heinze grabbed eight boards and dished out four assists, while Tucker had two rebounds and an assist.

Senior Elliot Harris added eight points and four assists, while fellow senior Azriel Almodovar grabbed seven rebounds and added six points. Harris was named to the All-Tournament team. Junior Sean Wilcox tied his career-high with four blocks and added five points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Belhaven (8-4) took advantage of the Raptors low shooting from the field (39.3 percent), and outrebounded Bard 46-33. The Blazers were led by Luke Couch, who scored 39 points of his team’s 69 points.

The Raptors will be back in action when they host Clarkson on Friday, January 5, at 5:30 p.m. at the Stevenson Athletic Center.
