Army West Point Drops Heartbreaker at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Army West Point men’s basketball team (5-14, 1-5 PL) fell on the road to Navy in a heartbreaking 57-53 loss.

The big stage didn’t scare freshman Ryan Curry and Josh Scovens. They each had sixteen points to account for over half of team’s points. They combined for 10 rebounds, six assists, four blocks, and three steals.

Scovens led the way in the first half with 12 points on 4-6 shooting and Curry took over in the second half scoring 11 of his 16.

Down one at the break, the Black Knights came out firing, to close the gap and take the lead with 14:28 left in the ball game. The two sides traded the lead for the rest of the game.

With four seconds left, down by one Charlie Peterson posted up and threw up a shot. He was fouled and went to the line. After missing the front end he had to intentionally miss the second. The Black Knights were unable to secure the rebound and Navy found hit both of its free throws to ice the game.

Army will hit the road to face Boston U on Wednesday night.
