POUGHKEEPSIE – Senior Kiara Fisher scored a team-high 18 points, however, it wasn’t enough as Fairfield snapped Marist’s three-game win streak with a 60-46 victory over the Red Foxes Saturday afternoon inside McCann Arena.
With the loss, Marist fell to 5-12 on the campaign and 3-4 in the MAAC, while Fairfield improved to 15-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play on the 2023-24 season.
First Quarter
The Stags used the opening 3:48 of the contest to jump out to a 9-4 lead before Marist responded with a 10-2 run to take a 14-11 lead, its first lead of the game.
The Red Foxes eventually took a 14-13 lead into the second quarter.
Second Quarter
Fairfield opened the second quarter with a 10-3 run, forcing a Marist timeout with the Red Foxes trailing 23-17 with 7:09 left in the opening half. Fairfield’s run reached as much as 17-3 before the Stags took a 37-21 lead into halftime.
Third Quarter
The Red Foxes opened the second half with a 9-3 run to cut the deficit to 40-30 by the media timeout with 4:52 left in the third quarter.
Marist’s run reached 13-3 before Fairfield outscored Marist 4-0 over the final 1:06 of the frame to take a 44-34 lead into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
The Stags used the first 5:24 of the fourth to edge Marist 7-5, extending their lead to 51-39. The deficit proved to be too much for the Red Foxes, as they eventually fell, 60-46.
