Newburgh Library Welcomes Young Readers

NEWBURGH – The Newburgh Free library hosted their Ujima: A Children’s Literacy Program, with special guest Dr. Manning Campbell!

Ujima, the third principle of Kwanzaa, represents Collective Work and Responsibility. “We are thankful for all who joined us as we celebrated art, culture, history, and story telling through the work of African American authors and illustrators in children’s literature at the Newburgh Free Library.”

In this family story time for children ages 5-8, gathered together to read aloud the selected book and expand their experience of the book through discussion, activities and celebration. Participants received a copy of the book to keep to encourage reflection and foster sharing of the program experience with others in their lives. The Library invited families of children ages 5-8, Grades K-3, to sign up to attend.
