LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Marist men’s basketball team won its third straight game, as the Red Foxes earned a 77-62 victory at Rider on Saturday night in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
There were four lead changes in the first 5:09, but Marist took the lead for the remainder of the half with a 7-0 run.
A three-pointer by Isaiah Brickner at the 7:42 mark of the first half gave Marist a 32-20 lead, its largest of the first 20 minutes.
Rider cut its deficit to five thanks to a 7-0 run, but a three-pointer by Jadin Collins at the 1:33 mark closed out the scoring of the first half. Marist led 37-29 after the first 20 minutes.
Marist’s lead reached 20 for the first time on a three-point play by Jackson Price with 15:18 remaining.
Marist’s lead reached a game-high of 24 on a turnaround jumper by Brickner with 11:52 remaining.
Marist led by at least 15 for the final 16:25.
Marist had four double-digit scorers: Price, 17; Max Allen II, 16; Collins, 11; Brickner, 10.
Brickner had a game-high eight rebounds.
In addition to his 11 points, Collins had four rebounds, three assists, three steals and no turnovers. He played a team-high 35 minutes and had a team-leading plus-17.
Marist shot 9-for-20 on threes, while Rider was 3-for-13.
Marist shot 16-for-17 from the line.
The Red Foxes had a 22-6 edge in points off turnovers.
Tariq Ingraham led Rider with 14 points.
Marist held Mervin James, the MAAC’s leading scorer, to nine points. James has been held under 10 points three times this season, with two coming against Marist.
