CAMDEN, NJ – The State University of New York at New Paltz traveled to Camden, NJ to face Rutgers-Camden in a doubleheader Friday night, taking both games of the series, 4-0 and 11-4, respectively.

Lindsay Roman earned the win in game one, tossing the full seven innings, giving up just five hits, no runs or walks with six strikeouts.

The Hawks gave Roman run support in the top of the third, which started with Lauren Serrao getting on following an error. Serrao eventually scored on a passed ball with Emmie Mae Cabrera scoring two more following another error by the Raptors.

Jaycee Filancia doubled to lead off the fifth and was later brought home on an RBI ground out by Jillian Shelbourne to extend the lead to 4-0. Roman did the rest, getting six straight outs before closing out the seventh with a strikeout and back-to-back pop ups after allowing a base hit to close out the shutout.

Filancia led the team with a hit, a walk and two runs. Kelsey O’Brien followed with one run and one hit.

SUNY New Paltz rolled through game two, going up 8-0 after two innings. Rutgers-Camden cut the score, 8-4 after getting on the board in the fourth and fifth innings, but the Hawks stalled the hosts offense there and added three insurance runs in the last two frames to close out its ninth win of the season.
