Vassar Tennis Cruises to Fifth Straight Victory

ROCHESTER – The #33 Vassar College Women’s Tennis team picked up its fifth straight victory on Sunday following an impressive 8-1 road win at the University of Rochester. Erin McCusker rallied for a ninth straight singles win for the Brewers.

Sunday’s victory pushes Vassar to 7-3 overall on the season and gives the Brewers three straight wins over the Yellow Jackets. Rochester falls to 3-4 overall.

Doubles
Vassar held a 2-1 lead through Sunday’s three doubles matches.

At the second slot, Iris Li and Maddie Kirby won their fifth straight decision and moved to 8-2 on the season with an 8-4 victory.

At the third position, Ananya Krishnan and Elyse Duley also pushed their winning streak to five matches after easing to an 8-1 victory.

Singles
McCusker scored a ninth straight victory at the top flight for the Brewers and improved to 9-1 on the season after rallying for a 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-8) win.

Macey Dowd won for the fifth straight time at second singles, easing to a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Li continued a strong season at the third position, winning for the ninth time after blanking the opponent from Rochester in an impressive 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Playing at the fourth position for the second straight match, Krishnan scored a 6-1, 6-0 win for the Brewers.

Kirby posted her sixth win of the season on Sunday after dispatching the opponent from Rochester by scores of 6-0, 6-1.

Duley won for the fourth straight outing on Sunday after producing a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the sixth position.

Vassar returns to Liberty League play on March 30 when it hosts St. Lawrence.
