Skoufis Formally Launches Re-Election Campaign

GOSHEN – Senator James Skoufis (D-Orange County) filed petitions with the Orange County Board of Elections on Thursday, formally launching his bid for re-election with more than three times the needed signatures to run on the Democratic and Working Families Party lines in November.

Over the course of three terms in the Senate and three prior terms in the Assembly, Skoufis has fought for the Hudson Valley’s working- and middle-classes by securing universal pre-kindergarten and record school funding, cracking down on corporate welfare, leading the fight against overdevelopment, and securing the lowest middle-class income tax rates in 75 years.

As chair of the Senate’s Investigations and Government Operations committee, Skoufis works to level the playing field while serving with integrity. He consistently puts the needs of his Orange County neighbors over the pressures of Albany, casting the most votes independent of his party each year, and passing the most legislation of any of his colleagues.

“I am deeply grateful to this community for affording me the privilege of serving in Albany over the past dozen years,” said Skoufis. “Now more than ever, Orange County residents need and deserve strong, tested, and competent leadership, and I’ll never stop fighting to ensure our hard-working families get their fair share.”
