Vassar College School Records Fall at the CGA Invite

NEW LONDON, CT – The Vassar College Women’s Track and Field team tallied numerous top-five finishes at the Coast Guard Academy Invite on Saturday as first year Haley Schoenegge earned a first place finish and a new school record time in the 1500-meters, sophomore Sydney Petrie broke the school record mark in the discus throw and sophomore Jahmilia Dennis was victorious in the triple jump.

100 Meters
Senior Ava Novak earned a third place finish with a time of 12.61 while junior Lily Falkowski scored a time of 14.00.

100 Meter Hurdles
Vassar tallied four finishers in the top eight as Dennis recorded a second place finish in 15.80 followed by sophomore Freja Niklasson in fourth with a time of 16.47.

Junior Faye Stevens crossed the finish line in seventh in 17.01 and senior Nora Jensen was eighth overall in 17.06.

200 Meters
Novak posted another top-five finish on the day as the senior finished fourth with a time of 26.53.

Stevens finished 13th overall in 27.66 followed by Falkowski crossing the finish line in 30.25.

400 Meters
Sophomore Margaret McLaughlin registered a 12th place finish with a time of 1:08.76.

400 Meter Hurdles
Niklasson earned an eighth place finish with a time of 1:14.30.

800 Meters
Sophomore Ella Sheidley recorded a personal-best time of 2:45.16 followed by classmate Emma Sandrew tallying a career-best time of 2:57.67.

1500 Meters
Schoenegge was victorious once again for the Brewers as she broke the school record with time of 4:37.56, breaking the school record set in 2012 by Kelly Holmes of 4:39.07.

First year Norah Reade finished 12th overall with a time of 4:57.69 and classmate Cayley Swaim recording a time of 4:59.18.

Sophomore Anika Mueller-Hickler scored a 17th place finish in 4:59.49 followed by first year Ava Whitney in 19th in 4:59.80 and first year Ava Whitney in 20th with a time of 5:00.29.

5000 Meters
First year Acadia Helfand earned a sixth place finish with a time of 19:05.70.

4×100 Relay
The relay team of sophomore Jamie Eu, Novak, Dennis and junior Traci Francis scored a second place finish with a time of 50.55.

4×400 Relay
The quartet of first year Maya Carey, Henderson, McLaughlin and Novak took home a second place finish in 4:16.14.

Discus Throw
Petrie finished fourth overall with a new school record toss of 37.48 meters, breaking the school record mark of 35.08 meters that was set by Jackie Cenan in 2017.

Junior Soleil Yuong recorded an 11th place finish with a mark of 31.20 meters while sophomore Abbe Colgan registered a mark of 24.74 meters and sophomore Ava Gurley had a toss of 21.24 meters.

High Jump
First year Jillian Benfante scored a seventh place finish with a mark of 1.27 meters.

Javelin Throw
Yuong finished 18th with a throw of 24.58 meters while Colgan recorded a toss of 21.76 meters.

Jensen tallied a personal-best mark of 19.20 meters and Benfante registered a throw of 11.16 meters.

Long Jump
Sophomore Sydney Passley-Harris earned a third place finish with a leap of 5.13 meters.

Eu was 10th with a mark of 4.83 meters and Niklasson scored a jump of 4.56 meters.

Shot Put
Petrie recorded a toss of 8.78 meters along with Yuong tallying a mark of 8.51 meters.

Sophomore Kolby Davis registered a toss of 8.19 meters and Gurley had a throw of 7.92 meters.

Triple Jump
Dennis was victorious in the triple jump as the sophomore recorded the top mark of 11.34 meters.

Vassar returns to action on Thursday at the RPI Under the Lights meet.
