NEWBURGH – Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh scored a “Hole in One” and raised $19,000 at its fourth annual charity golf tournament, “Take a Swing at Hunger Golf Classic!”
The golf tournament was held on July 22, 2024, and had 79 participants, who enjoyed a great day at the beautiful Powelton Club in Newburgh, New York. The post tournament celebration featured golf awards, prize raffle winners, and a delicious dinner buffet.
“We are very appreciative of the generosity of our sponsor, donors, and golfers,” said Joe Dirago, Golf Tournament Director and member of the Board of Directors. Giordano Industrial and the Kaplan Family Foundation were Platinum Sponsors. President Carole McDermott added, “The funds raised by this tournament will help us provide a year of free meals for 19 of our most needy clients who are homebound and unable to provide their own meals.”
Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh is a 501(c)(3) registered charity that prepares fresh, nutritious, meals for residents of the City of Newburgh, and Towns of Newburgh and New Windsor, who are confined to their homes and in need. Dedicated Volunteers deliver hot meals on weekdays at noontime, along with a friendly visit and optional frozen meals for evenings, weekends and holidays.
