Assemblymember Didi Barrett (D- Dutchess/Columbia) announced that she had secured $40,000 for Dutchess Outreach. This funding will help Dutchess Outreach to expand their Farm Stand mobile food pantry program into the Town of Poughkeepsie, part of the 106th Assembly District. For 50 years, Dutchess Outreach has consistently battled food insecurity in Dutchess County, providing healthy food and support services to those in need. Assemblymember Barrett recently toured their headquarters with Executive Director Renee Fillette and Poughkeepsie Town Supervisor Rebecca Edwards.
“For decades, Dutchess Outreach has worked tirelessly to address food insecurity in Dutchess County,” said Assemblymember Didi Barrett. “As a longtime supporter of Dutchess Outreach and the work that they do in our region, I am honored to secure this critical funding to expand their Farm Stand program into my Assembly District.”
“Assemblymember Barrett has always had a keen interest in listening to the needs of her district and finding solutions. This opportunity is no exception. Thanks to her advocacy, Dutchess Outreach can provide much-needed free food throughout several towns in the 106th district, high-quality food that is rescued, and food that is purchased from local farms to support our food system,” said Dutchess Outreach Executive Director Renee Fillette. “With food insecurity rates of 20% in Dutchess County, the need for support like this is exceptionally high, especially among seniors and young children.”
