Walk Raises Awareness For Ketoacidosis

By Jennifer L. Warren

Saturday, a Walk raising awareness for the condition, Ketoacidosis, which can result from a Type 1 diabetes (T1D) condition, took place on the Hopewell Junction Section of the Rail Trail.

Pictured are family members of Paul James (PJ) Gaston, who lost his battle with Type 1 Diabetes- Ketoacidosis on September 12, 2021 and whose memory the well- attended Walk was supporting. A joyful student- athlete and graduate of John Jay High School, “PJ” was studying to be a welder, a job he was passionate about.

The Paul “PJ” Gaston Memorial Scholarship was created last year, selecting a graduating East Fishkill- based senior each year, honoring his memory. To learn more information on this scholarship, contact the East Fishkill PBA.
