Iris Rose’s Appointment as H.S. Assist. Principal

VALLEY CENTRAL – Valley Central School District is proud to announce the appointment of Iris Rose as the newest assistant principal of Valley Central High School effective on Sept. 5, 2024. Ms. Rose joins the administrative leadership, which includes Principal Russell Burns and fellow Assistant Principals Allison Simoskevich and Cletus Witte.

A long-standing elementary school teacher, Ms. Rose first joined Valley Central School District as an administrative intern in 2007 and returned as a first grade teacher at Walden Elementary School in the fall of 2017. After serving as summer school principal this year, Ms. Rose began her new role as assistant principal for the high school when school opened on Sept. 5, 2024.

“I am excited to join the Valley Central High School family as we venture upward to build an environment of excellence through community, coherence, and consistency,” said Iris Rose. “I look forward to working collaboratively with all staff, families, and the community as we prepare our students for a successful high school experience and promising future.”

Ms. Rose holds a Master of Science degree in Education from the College of Saint Rose, a Master of Arts degree in Special Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus. Additionally, Ms. Rose earned certifications for School Building Leader and Common Branches K-6.

“Parents, guardians, and students can look forward to partnering with Ms. Rose in pursuit of a high standard of academic excellence,” said Superintendent Evette Avila. “We’re excited to see what she’ll accomplish in her new role as assistant principal.
