Saugerties Celebrates International Dot Day

Students at Grant D. Morse Elementary School were seeing “spots” during their celebration of International Dot Day! Held around September 15, Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage, and collaboration, inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot. The story highlights the idea that everyone has a unique talent, waiting to be discovered.
Art Teacher Rebecca Black kicked off the day by reading The Dot, and from there, the students got to work, decorating their own small paper plates with unique dot patterns, showcasing their creativity and confidence.

Projects like this are a key part of Saugerties Central School District’s strategic plan, aimed at encouraging students to embrace their unique talents and be comfortable with expressing their authentic selves.
