MOUNT VERNON – Mount Vernon STEAM Academy is ranked as a top 25 public high school in Westchester County and in the top 6% of public schools in New York State, according to Public School Review’s 2024-2025 rankings. Westchester County has a high concentration of top-ranked public schools compared to the rest of New York State, and the STEAM Academy is now one of the top schools in the county. With math and reading/English language arts test scores between 85% and 89%, the school outpaces the state average by approximately 40 percentage points in both.

Mount Vernon STEAM Academy was selected on Westchester County’s top-ranked list as the 22nd best public high school in the county. Although the STEAM Academy has a heavy focus on STEM courses and programs, these scores show that reading instruction at the school has been successful as well.
“Our efforts at Mount Vernon STEAM Academy have paid off greatly, and this ranking shows just how valuable an education they provide,” said Acting Superintendent Dr. K. Veronica Smith. “Dr. Christopher Pearce, his admin team, faculty and staff all came together to ensure that our students at STEAM have a high-quality education and are prepared well to succeed in their future endeavors.”
STEAM Academy is in the top 6% of all public schools in New York State, ranking as the 261st highest school out of 4,377.
