Vassar’s Second Straight League Championship

CANTON – Sophomore Haley Schoenegge led the way with a first place overall finish to earn the Liberty League individual title and Runner of the Year as the #26 Vassar College Women’s Cross Country team won its second straight Liberty League Championship at the Ronald C. Hoffman Cross Country Course on Saturday afternoon on the campus of St. Lawrence.

Vassar finished with 36 points to earn back-to-back titles for the first time in program history while Schoenegge set the new 6K course record time and the fastest time in Liberty League Championship 6K history.

Vassar’s Top Finishers
Schoenegge took home the individual championship and Runner of the Year award as she crossed the finish line in 20:59.6 to set the new course record and Liberty League Championship record time.

Sophomore Adelaide Nyhan scored a fifth place finish for All-Liberty League First Team honors with a time of 22:07.1 followed by senior Anna Kaigle with First Team honors in seventh place in 22:30.0.

Sophomore Norah Reade collected All-Liberty League Second Team honors with an eighth place finish in 22:33.8 along with classmate Cayley Swaim earning All-Liberty League Honorable Mention status with a 15th place finish with a time of 22:59.9.

Senior Noni Pattington earned Honorable Mention honors with a 20th place finish in 23:15.8 followed by sophomore Acadia Helfand in 21st position in a time of 23:19.4 to collect Honorable Mention status.

Junior Anika Mueller-Hickler posted a strong time of 23:20.2 for a 22nd place overall finish before first year Lizzie Lowe finished in 23rd position in 23:24.8.

First year Sophia Marchioli earned a 28th place finish with a time of 23:32.1 while first year Sarah France closed the top-40 finishers for Vassar with a 37th place finish in 23:51.5.
