POUGHKEEPSIE – The Vassar College Women’s Swimming and Diving team was back in action at home on Saturday afternoon, closing a three-meet home stand with a hard fought 161-129 loss to visiting Skidmore. Maleigha Vietti, Abigail McLaughlin and Vivien Li all won two events for the Brewers.
Saturday’s loss drops Vassar back to the .500 mark at 2-2 overall on the season.

Vietti had a strong meet for the Brewers, winning both the 500-yard (5:26.55) and 1,000-yard freestyle (11:06.29). Vietti also added a third-place finish for Vassar in the 200-yard backstroke (2:18.83).
McLaughlin scored victories for the Brewers in the 50-yard (25.09) and 100-yard (55.13) freestyle races and earned a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.76).
Li rounded out the meet with first-place points for Vassar in the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.26) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.61). Li also took third-place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.09).
Senior Maya Luongo had an impressive day for Vassar with runner-up finishes in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.56) and 100-yard freestyle (55.56).
Sophomore Anna Little won the 200-yard breaststroke for the Brewers (2:34.14) and collected second-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.49) and 200-yard individual medley (2:18.07).
First Year Eva D’Addario swam to a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:26.81).
Sophomore Lara Chebotarev rounded out the day with third-place finishes for Vassar in the 100-yard (1:13.75) and 200-yard (2:40.31) breaststroke events.
Tia Spivey posted a third-place finish for Vassar in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.27).
In diving, Caroline Griem had a big day for the Brewers, placing third in the 1-meter event with a score of 139.88. Griem then went on to make her debut off the 3-meter board, collecting third-place points with a score of 140.40.
Vassar opened the day with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Luongo, Little, Li and Vietti swam to a time of 1:55.18.
The Brewers closed the day by winning the 400-yard freestyle relay. The squad of McLaughlin, Spivey, Chebotarev and Luongo topped the field by better than five seconds with a time of 3:47.58.
Vassar returns to action on November 16 when it heads to Troy, NY to take on RPI.
