ALBANY – Mount Saint Mary College men’s basketball dropped their third straight game with a loss to Russell Sage College.
Mount Saint Mary traveled up to Albany, New York, to face Russell Sage College for their last game before Thanksgiving break, where they will have nearly two weeks off from in-game action. Ryan Graham and Connor Cyran got the Knights going offensively to start the game. A Rob Geremino three would put the Mount up 12-10 early on, as this was their first and only lead of the night with 13:28 remaining in the first half. This was yet another game where the Knights struggled offensively in the first half, only putting up 24 points while shooting 34.62% from the field. Mount Saint Mary lost the points in the paint battle 47-18, which would prove to be very costly in a 29-point loss.
Down 15 at the start of the second half, the Knights had to turn things around offensively if they were going to stay in the game. The solid defense that held the Gators to sub-40 % shooting in the first half was nowhere to be found. Russell Sage continued to add to their lead, leading by as much as 36. Soren Holmbo was a lone bright spot off the bench for the Knights this evening. Holbo scored eight points in only nine minutes played, potentially earning himself more minutes in the future. Mount Saint Mary would eventually lose this match on the road to Russell Sage College 85-56.
