Bard Comeback Falls Short Against Mt Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, M.A. – The Bard College women’s basketball team dropped a close match against Mount Holyoke on Saturday afternoon, 67-58, at Howard Gymnasium.
Bard had three players in double-digit points, as Lexi Miller had a near double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Miller added two blocks and an assist. Aislynn Dixon scored 13 points and had a team-high four assists. Shirley Dong added 10 points, four rebounds and three assists. Erin Tobes had a team-high of three steals, four assists, and eight points.

Both teams started slowly in the first quarter, totaling 20 points, with the Raptors leading by two heading into the second quarter. Mount Holyoke switched gears in the second quarter and started to get its offensive flow, scoring 13 points off Bard’s eight turnovers.

After halftime, the Raptors reduced their turnover ratio and shot 43.8%. By the fourth quarter, Bard had reduced the deficit to six points and was only down by three points with less than a minute left, thanks to a three-pointer from Jessica Martin. Mount Holyoke made their free throws in the last 30 seconds and held Bard scoreless on the defensive end.
