WEST POINT – The Army West Point women’s basketball team (11-4, 3-1 PL) suffered their first conference loss of the season, falling 90-51 to Lehigh (12-4, 3-1 PL).
Fiona Hastick, Reese Ericson, and Trinity Hardy led the Black Knights in scoring with nine points apiece. Hastick and Hardy each grabbed four rebounds, leading the team on the boards.
Lehigh established control early, opening the game with an 11-0 run. Army’s Trinity Hardy put the Black Knights on the board with a layup at the 5:32 mark. Hardy followed with another bucket and Reese Ericson connected on a three-pointer to give Army a spark.
However, Lehigh’s ball movement created open looks that extended their lead. Turnovers plagued Army, and they trailed 23-13 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was defined by Army’s offensive struggles, as they managed just four points. Lehigh capitalized on turnovers and missed opportunities, building their lead with contributions from multiple players. Army’s only points came from Hardy’s free throw and a three pointer from Reese Ericson. Lehigh’s strong defensive effort and transition play helped them take a commanding 41-17 lead into halftime.
Army showed renewed energy in the third quarter, highlighted by a three-pointer from Camryn Tade and a layup by Kya Smith. Fiona Hastick added a mid-range jumper that momentarily energized the crowd. Despite their improved scoring, Army couldn’t slow Lehigh’s offensive efficiency and trailed 63-35 heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, Army continued to fight as Tade completed an and-one play and Brooke Wilson added two free throws. Hastick chipped in with a second-chance layup and a three-pointer, providing a late spark. However, Lehigh’s consistent scoring kept Army at bay, sealing the 90-51 win.
