Vassar Drops Matchup Against Farmingdale

DAVENPORT, FL – The Vassar College Baseball team saw its three-game winning streak stopped on Monday afternoon as the Brewers fell 11-0 to Farmingdale State in the penultimate game of the RussMatt Invitational. Vassar’s record falls to 5-4 overall while the Rams improve to 4-5 on the season.

Farmingdale struck first in the second inning as Jordan Lambert reached on an infield single and Justin DiMartino was hit by a pitch before Ryan Plocker lifted a three-run homer to left field to put the Rams ahead 3-0.

The Rams added two more runs on a two-RBI single from Richie Heyder to give Farmingdale State a 5-0 lead after two innings.

Farmingdale State tacked on to its lead in the fourth following a RBI triple from Heyder and a RBI double from Chris McGuggart to extend the lead to 7-0.

Plocker blasted his second home run of the game in the fifth, this time a two-run homer, to push the Rams lead to 9-0.

Farmingdale’s lead grew to 11-0 after five innings as Kaolis Delacruz knocked in a run on a RBI triple and then came across to score on a RBI single from Heyder.

For The Brewers
Junior Jensen Bergman and first years Miller Young and Dash Edwards each recorded a hit.

Sophomore Sage Roy-Burman took the loss as he went three innings, allowing five hits, five runs, four walks and struck out two.

Sophomore Asher Millimet threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief and struck out two.

For The Rams
Heyder finished the game 3-for-3 with four runs batted in along with Plocker hitting two homers and driving in five runs.

Delacruz tallied two hits and two runs scored while Christopher Sais and McGuggart each recorded a double.

Derek Watts tossed a complete game shutout, scattering four hits, one walk and struck out six.
