Blue Knights Fall to John Jay, 13-5

WAPPINGERS FALLS – The Mount Saint Mary College baseball team came up short against John Jay College losing 13-5.

Mount Saint Mary struck first in the top of the 1st when Christian Parisa tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Calvario, taking a 1-0 lead. John Jay responded immediately, plating 3 runs in the bottom half on an a double and errors, jumping ahead 3-1. The Bloodhounds added 2 more in the 2nd and pushed their lead to 5-1.

The Knights narrowed the gap to 5-2 in the 3rd when Stephen Volk singled to score Tyler Van De Bogart. John Jay answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd, extending the score to 7-2. Mount Saint Mary mounted a comeback in the 5th, scoring 3 runs on Aidan Marshall’s RBI triple, Reese Kelly’s RBI double, and Noah Anderson’s RBI single, cutting the deficit to 7-5. However, John Jay pulled away in the bottom of the 5th with 3 runs with a 2-RBI single and another RBI single, making it 10-5.

The Knights’ offense stalled in the later innings, while John Jay tacked on 2 runs in the 7th—via a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly—and 1 more in the 8th on an RBI single, securing a 13-5 victory. Mount Saint Mary couldn’t rally in the 9th, falling short against John Jay.
