JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Marist University softball team earned a 3-0 victory at Saint Peter’s on Sunday at Jaroschak Field in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest.
The victory gave the Red Foxes a sweep in the three-game series, and extended Marist’s winning streak to 13 games.
In the top of the second, Kaitlyn Husic started a two-out rally with a walk. She scored on Peyton Pusey’s double.
Marist extended its lead to 2-0 in the third. Sienna Kunze’s single brought home Haley Ahr, who led off the inning with a single.
Saint Peter’s loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the third, but Ronni Howard made a diving stop on a ground ball to end the rally.
Pusey walked to lead off the fourth, and she scored on a Miah McDonald double.
Anna Sidlowski took a shutout into the seventh inning. When the leadoff hitter reached in the bottom of the seventh, Kiley Myers came on in relief and retired three straight hitters to end the game.
Marist outhit Saint Peter’s, 9-6, as Ahr led the way by going 3-for-3 with a run scored, a stolen base, and a hit by pitch.
Pusey reached safely three times, going 1-for-2 with two talks, a run scored, an RBI, and a double.
