Marist Softball’s Winning Streak Reaches 15

HAMDEN, CT – The Marist University softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader at Quinnipiac on Sunday, prevailing by scores of 13-9 in game one and 9-0 in six innings in game two.

With the victories, Marist’s winning streak now stands at 15 games.

Game One
Marist scored twice in the top of the first. The Red Foxes drew four walks, and the final one by Sienna Kunze forced home Peyton Pusey. Isabella Manory’s single plated Haley Ahr.

Quinnipiac scored twice in the bottom of the second to tie the game.

The Red Foxes took the lead back with two in the top of the third. Kunze drew a leadoff walk, and she later scored on an error. Ronni Howard’s RBI double brought home Samantha Rogers.

However, Natalia Apatiga’s two-run double tied the game in the bottom of the third.

Marist broke the game open with an eight-run fourth. The inning included a two-run homer by Manory, and a three-run blast from Maddie Pleasants.

Quinnipiac avoided the mercy rule with a five-run fifth.

Rogers’ sacrifice fly brought home Miah McDonald in the sixth with the game’s final run.

Marist pounded out 13 hits and drew 11 walks.

Ahr had a team-best three hits, going 3-for-4 with two runs, an RBI, and a walk.

Rogers, Manory, and Howard had two hits apiece.

Pleasants and Manory each drove in three runs.

Marist pitchers recorded 14 strikeouts.

Pleasants started in the circle, and she struck out seven in three innings.

Emma Bayor struck out two in 1.2 innings of relief.

Myers finished the game with five strikeouts in 2.1 innings. She recorded the win and improved to 12-0.
