SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The Marist baseball team triumphed in a thrilling rubber match against Seton Hall, Sunday afternoon. The Red Foxes relief pitching led to a 4-3 win against the Pirates in the series finale.
Logan Scholl earned his second win of the season, pitching 2.2 hitless innings for the Red Foxes in relief.
The Red Foxes improved to 12-13 overall on the 2025 season with the win.
In the top-half of the first inning, the Red Foxes struck first with a run on two hits.
After Claiborn stole second base, Kyle Pollack recorded an RBI single which put the Red Foxes up 1-0 after one inning of play.
Seton Hall equalized the game with a run on one hit in the second inning.
The Red Foxes and Pirates were tied at 2-2 through two innings of play.
In the bottom-half of the fifth inning, Seton Hall scored a run on one hit and took a 2-1 lead after five innings of play.
The Red Foxes took their first lead of the game in sixth inning with two runs on four hits.
With one out in the inning, Brady Steinert gave the Red Foxes a 3-2 lead with a two-run single.
After six innings of play, the Red Foxes led 3-2 against the Pirates.
The Red Foxes added to their lead in the seventh inning with a run on two hits.
Later in the inning, Claiborn scored Brotz on an RBI single to the pitcher and gave the Red Foxes a 4-2 lead.
Seton Hall added a run in the bottom of the ninth, but the Red Foxes maintained a 4-3 lead and triumphed in the rubber match.
