FARMINGDALE – The Mount Saint Mary College baseball team dropped both games in their doubleheader against Farmingdale.
Game 1
Mount Saint Mary couldn’t capitalize on early opportunities, leaving runners on base in the 1st and 2nd innings. Farmingdale State broke through in the 2nd, scoring three runs on two RBI singles helped by a Mount Saint Mary error and a passed ball to take the lead 3-0.
The Rams extended the lead further in the 3rd scoring four more runs pushing the score to 7-0.
The Knights showed signs of life in the 4th with singles from Christian Parisa and Tyler Van De Bogart, but stranded the two runners. Mount Saint Mary loaded the bases in the 5th with Noah Anderson’s single and walks to Frank Signorelli and Chris Calvario, but failed to cash in. Gregory Malerba provided scoreless relief, but the Rams held on to win 7-0.
Game 2
In game 2 Farmingdale State struck first in the bottom of the 1st, taking a 2-0 lead on a two-RBI single. Mount Saint Mary struggled offensively to start, managing just one hit through the first five innings, a Noah Anderson single in the 3rd. The Rams held their lead through a quiet middle stretch, with Michael Pisseri settling in to retire nine straight batters from the 2nd to 4th innings.
Farmingdale State extended their lead to 3-0 in the 7th with a sac fly. The Knights offense came alive in the 8th cutting it to 3-2 with Anderson’s RBI single and Chris Calvario’s RBI hit-by-pitch after loading the bases. Farmingdale State responded in the bottom of the 8th pushing the lead to 5-2 with an RBI double and an RBI single, helped by a Mount Saint Mary error. Mount Saint Mary rallied in the 9th, scoring twice on Elijah Duprey’s RBI single after Luke Barone’s double and a wild pitch, but a double-play ended the threat as Farmingdale went on to win 5-4.
