Vassar Brewers Cruise Past Garnet Chargers, 7-0

SCHENECTADY – The Vassar College Women’s Tennis team got back into the win column Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 shutout on the road at #37 Union. Saturday’s victory is the sixth for the Brewers in their last seven decisions.

Vassar improves to 9-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play with Saturday triumph, while Union falls to 11-4 overall and 4-1 against league rivals.

Doubles
Vassar scored wins in all three doubles matches to open a 1-0 lead in the contest.

Vassar’s top pair of Erin McCusker and Sofie Shen moved to 6-2 on the season with a 6-3 victory.

Iris Li and Macey Dowd moved to 10-2 at the second slot following a 6-4 win on Saturday.

At three, Maddie Kirby and Elyse Duley improved to 7-2 on the spring after cruising to a 6-1 victory.

Singles
The Brewers would go on to win at all six singles positions to finish off the sweep.

McCusker moved to 9-5 this spring with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.

Li scored her team leading 11th win and won for the ninth straight time at the second position following a 6-4, 6-4 win for the Brewers.

Dowd scored her seventh straight singles victory with a 6-2, 6-2 third position win on Saturday.

At four, First Year Siuen Lee won her eighth match of the spring with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph.

Ananya Krishnan eased to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the fifth position, collecting her fifth win of the spring.

Duley posted a 6-2, 7-5 victory at the sixth position against the Garnet Chargers, improving to 7-1 in singles play this spring.
