Marist Has Wire-to-Wire Victory at Dartmouth

HANOVER, NH – The Marist University men’s basketball earned its first victory of the season on Sunday. The Red Foxes cruised to a 75-56 victory at Dartmouth, and they never trailed in the contest.

The win was the 250th in the career of head coach John Dunne.

Marist scored the game’s first four points, and jumped out to a 7-2 lead at the 18:08 mark.

A 6-0 spurt, punctuated by a bucket from Tarik Watson, gave Marist its first double-digit lead at 22-11.

Dartmouth closed within four on two occasions late in the first half, and Marist led 40-35 at halftime.

Justin Menard scored five points in 12 seconds early in the second half to put Marist back up by double digits.

Rhyjon Blackwell’s layup with 10:18 to play gave Marist its largest lead to that point at 55-42.

The Red Foxes held Dartmouth to seven points in the final 7:50 of the game.

Marist’s final margin of 19 was its largest lead of the game.

Marist plays its home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 12 as the Red Foxes face Vassar at McCann Arena.
