Brewers Have Strong Showing Against RPI

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Vassar College Men’s Swimming and Diving team returned home for the first time since the season opener on Saturday and put together a strong meet in a 179-108 defeat to visiting RPI. Vassar won six events on the day, including three individual victories for First Year Kieran Lakhan.

Saturday’s decision drops Vassar to 2-4 on the season through six dual meet decisions.

Lakhan continued a strong rookie campaign on Saturday with victories in the 100 (1:06.29) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.22) events along with a win in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.24). Lakhan produced a season best swim in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Sophomore Mike Seaton topped the field on Saturday in the 50-yard freestyle (21.83) and the 100-yard butterfly (51.25), posting season best swims in both events.

Elam Estella touched out as the runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.56) in a season best effort on Saturday.

Junior Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) scored a pair of runner-up finishes against the Engineers, taking second in both the 100-yard backstroke (54.49) and 100-yard freestyle (50.46).

Logan Seiss turned in a strong meet for the Brewers with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.15) and a third-place showing in the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.87).

Eli House earned a second-place finish for the Brewers in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.84).

First Yeat Jack Powers was the runner-up for Vassar in the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.40).
Ricky Kurosawa earned a third-place finish for Vassar (2:21.33).

Vassar opened the meet with a winning swim in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Jauregui, Lakhan, Seaton and House showing a time of 1:37.28.

Vassar will be off from competition until it opens the three-day Bomber Invitational at Ithaca on December 4.
