Marist Season Comes to an End vs. Boston

LUBBOCK, Tx – The Marist University softball team had its season come to an end on Saturday with a 10-2 loss to Boston University in five innings in the Lubbock Regional.

Marist scored two in the top of the first. Isabella Manory laced a one-out single, and Haley Ahr belted a two-run homer to left field.

Boston University answered with two in the bottom of the first on a two-out, two-run single by Kieren McHugh.

The Terriers struck for seven in the bottom of the third, with five runs being unearned. The inning included a two-run ground-rule double off the bat of Kieren McHugh and a two-run homer by Irys Kline.

Boston University scored the winning run in the bottom of the fifth to end the game by the mercy rule.

Ahr, Manory, and Annabelle Geiser had hits for Marist.

Manory reached in both of her plate appearances with a single and a walk.

Anna Sidlowski started and went the first 2.2 innings. Ava Metzger did not allow an earned run in 1.1 innings. Emma Bayor recorded one out in the fifth, which was a strikeout.

For BU, Kasey Ricard struck out seven and went all five innings. Kieren McHugh went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, a double, and a run scored.

Over the last four years, Marist won 150 games, the program’s most in a four-year stretch in its history. During this time,

Marist won three MAAC regular-season championships and advanced to three NCAA Tournaments. Ahr, Manory, and Pusey became the first three Marist softball players to play in three NCAA Tournaments.
