Late Comeback Lifts Red Foxes Over Siena

By Mike Ferraro

POUGHKEEPSIE – Two three-pointers by freshman guard Ricardo Wright in the final 1:26 lifted the Marist men’s basketball team over Siena, 55-54, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon at McCann Arena.

Marist held Siena scoreless for the first 4:11. The Saints were held without a field goal for the first 6:04.

A 9-0 Marist run, capped by a Matt Herasme three-pointer, gave the Red Foxes a 22-11 advantage at the 5:52 mark.

A free throw by Braden Bell gave Marist its largest lead of 12 with 3:30 left in the half.
Siena cut into its deficit with an 8-0 run late in the first half, but Marist took a 27-22 lead to the locker room.

Siena took its first lead of the game on a three-pointer by Aidan Carpenter with 9:52 remaining at 40-37. Carpenter’s three capped a 9-0 run for the Saints.

Carpenter’s dunk with 6:09 left gave Siena a five-point lead, its largest of the game. That lead was matched on a Manny Camper three-pointer with 3:14 to go, and a Jalen Pickett jumper at the 2:19 mark.

After Pickett’s shot, Siena didn’t score the rest of the way. Wright’s three-pointer at the 1:26 mark brought the Red Foxes to within two, and another three with 42.8 to go provided the final margin. Marist then got stops on Siena’s final two possessions.
