Mount Has Tough Outing Against Bethany College

LAKE MYRTLE, Fla. – The Mount Saint Mary College baseball team lost in 7 innings to Bethany College.

Mount Saint Mary College took on the Bethany Bison in their last match of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational before heading back home to New York. Things got off to a rocky start for the Knights, as the Bison notched 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st. The Mount committed 2 errors, a passed ball, and a wild pitch all in the same inning. It wouldn’t get much better in the 2nd as the Bison scored a whopping 10 runs to take a commanding 13-0 lead after just 2 innings of play. A walk for Noah Anderson followed by some mistakes from Bethany got Mount Saint Mary their first run of the game in the top of the 3rd.

The Knights added another run off a Stephen Volk RBI the following inning but still trailed 13-2. In the top of the 6th, Reese Kelly would single with two runners on to load the bases.

Stephen Volk and Noah Anderson would both single, driving in 3 runs as the Knights seemed to slowly creep back in. The Bison responded in the bottom half of the inning with 4 runs of their own to extend their lead to 12 runs. Mount Saint Mary was unable to get within the 10-run threshold to continue the game past 7 innings, so Bethany would win 17-5.
