COLD SPRING – Sunday, the Little Stony Point Citizens Association- a collaboration of local Cold Spring area organizations, presented their popular, annual Maple Syrup Day.
Here, an impressive crowd turned out to enjoy free, delicious, homemade pancakes, topped with plentiful dollops of freshly tapped and heated maple syrup. On site, a nearby tree could be seen being tapped, alongside a huge bin full of syrup, being heated over a large fire pit to remove excess water, part of the intricate process of making maple syrup.
In addition to the much welcomed breakfast as well as assortment of hot drinks, the event included a stage section occupied by various musicians, providing much- appreciated, relaxing folk style melodies. Several area vendors were also on hand, offering critical information about the environment- outdoors as well as selling nifty items, including homemade maple lollipops.
Wherever you looked guests were enjoying themselves, experiencing the community bonding opportunity on blankets, near the water, while celebrating the special day centered upon the beauty and all the splendors of maple syrup.
