Chuck Thomas officially retired on December 31, 2020. A bitter sweet departure incited by some health concerns coupled with a desire to spend more time relaxing with family, the retirement marks a close to 25 year tenure with the Newburgh Free Library.

Leon and Elizabeth Barrett, owners of the South Street business, Steam Fish Lounge, in the City of Newburgh, were forced to close their doors for a couple of months earlier this year due to the pandemic. However, that did not stop this dynamic duo from continuing to feed the community, as well as any others in need, with free dinners every Saturday night during those challenging times. The primarily take out business has since reopened, now picking up some momentum, but they still continue to give back to the community in any and every way they can.
