Hawks Defeat Oswego, Fredonia in SUNYAC Play

POTSDAM – After defeating both SUNY Oswego and SUNY Fredonia on Saturday, the women’s volleyball team at the State University of New York at New Paltz moved to 3-0 in SUNYAC play.

The Hawks (9-7 overall, 3-0 SUNYAC) defeated the Lakers 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21) before taking care of the Blue Devils 3-0 (25-6, 25-14, 25-21).
With the three wins this weekend, New Paltz is now 33-1 against Potsdam, Oswego and Fredonia since 2008 including the postseason.

New Paltz 3, Oswego 1

Five players enjoyed double-digit dig performances while seniors Morgan Roessler and Anna Paulik both tallied 14 kills against the Lakers.

Paulik registered a double-double with 14 kills and a team-high 21 digs. Roessler hit .444 (14-2-27) and contributed six digs, five aces and three solo blocks.

Junior setter Maddie Zwickl orchestrated the offense with 49 assists and chipped in with 15 digs. Freshman Meghan Keyes recorded seven kills, four aces and 11 digs versus Oswego.

New Paltz 3, Fredonia 0

Roessler hit .600 (14-2-20) while junior libero Veronica Matedero made 21 digs defensively to lift the Hawks past the Blue Devils to close out the weekend.

Paulik and junior Meg Kinee posted 17 and 10 digs, respectively, while Zwickl dished out 37 assists. For the match, the Hawks hit .360 and made just six attacking errors.
