19th Annual Pillars of the Community Awards Gala

NEW WINDSOR – Cornerstone Family Healthcare celebrated its 19th Annual Pillars of the Community Awards Gala on Saturday, November 3 at Anthony Pier 9.

The event highlights members or organizations in the community who are “pillars” while raising much needed funds. This year’s proceeds will advance Cornerstone’s commitment to improving women’s health services, specifically thru investment in state-of-the-art ultrasound and mammography equipment.

President and CEO of Cornerstone Family Healthcare, Lisa S. Muller, spoke of not only how this year’s gala proceeds would benefit the community, but of the past year’s accomplishments. “This past year has been one of monumental changes that required speedy action and quick thinking,” she said referring to the acquisition of six medical practices and two mobile health unites from a health center based in Middletown that closed. That acquisition resulted in new sites in Middletown, Port Jervis, Pine Bush, and Milford, PA for Cornerstone.

Cornerstone also kicked off a multi-million dollar renovation and addition to its flagship site in Newburgh, which will allow for added services, new providers and reduce wait times. They have also begun serving patients at their newest site in Plattekill and completed a major renovation of their substance abuse treatment program, the Center for Recovery.
In addition to showcasing Cornerstone’s success and sharing plans for its future, the night also paid tribute to two dedicated individuals and one organization for their contributions to the community.

Raena Endick Korenman received the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award for her tireless dedication and commitment to the community. Korenman and her late husband Alan founded Hudson View Pharmacy which has been co-located with Cornerstone since they were operating at 3 Washington Center in Newburgh.

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler, Esq was the Distinguished Service Honoree. Hoovler has dedicated his professional life to protecting and serving the community, having worked as a police detective, Department of Justice trial attorney and assistant district attorney before taking the helm as Orange County’s top prosecutor.

Orange Regional Medical Center was the second Distinguished Service Honoree. Like Cornerstone, Orange Regional puts its patients and their families above all else. When Cornerstone began operating its new sites in Middletown and Port Jervis last year, Orange Regional’s leadership were among the first to offer their assistance in the form of crucial partnership and collaborative relationship that ensures the needs of their mutual patients will be met.
