Middletown Police Condemn Police Brutality

MIDDLETOWN – To demonstrate unity and speak out against police brutality, members of the Middletown City Police Department lined up on the steps of headquarters and re-affirmed their oath of office to protect the public.

Mayor Joseph DeStefano administered the oath on Monday morning before hundreds of people took to the streets of the city to express their concern over the killed of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis last week.

“We are committed to serving our community with the highest level of respect and professionalism and we will not let the actions of one officer speak for all of us,” said Chief John Ewanciw. “We hear you, and we work for you toward the same goal!”

The peaceful march through Middletown took to several streets with local police providing traffic control with orders not to enforce any actions by marchers.
