Somni Bar & Restaurant Celebrates Anniversary

MONROE – Last Friday evening, the Orange County Chamber of Commerce joined brothers Luis and Manuel Naula, owners of Somni Mediterranean Restaurant to celebrate the anniversary of opening their Mediterranean, tapas style restaurant & bar back in 2020. Due to the pandemic, the owners had to postpone their ceremonial ribbon cutting until now. So, it was time to celebrate their success! Guests were greeted with delicious hors d’oeuvres, drinks and great music. Luis and Manuel quite literally rolled out the red carpet for their guests! The Orange County Chamber of Commerce Acting President & CEO, Heather Bell-Meyer opened the ceremony along with chamber ambassadors Lisa-Ann LaBue of Empire State Bank, Nathan Jackson of Central Hudson Gas & Electric and Jean Sexton of Walden Savings Bank and member of the Chamber Board. Local officials in attendance to support the occasion and to offer remarks were Joseph Minuta representing the County Executive’s office, Amanda Dana of Orange County Tourism, Assemblyman Colin Schmitt, Kelly Eskew for Orange County Clerk, Councilman Anthony Grice of the City of Newburgh, and a representative from Senator James Skoufis’s office. All appropriate health & safety guidelines were followed strictly including the number in attendance under NY state social distancing guidelines.

Somni is a Mediterranean Tapas Bar and Restaurant located at 590, NY-208 in Monroe which serves an innovative Mediterranean & Spanish cuisine offering both traditional and modern dishes. Owners Luis and Manuel chose a fitting name for their restaurant. Somni is an Old Catalan word borrowed from Latin that means “dream”. Luis and Manuel dream of being the best Mediterranean and Tapas restaurant in Monroe. Having perfected the Spanish cuisine, the brothers decided to add a French, Portuguese, Italian, and Greek twist to their menu to cover most Mediterranean tastes. Surrounded by friends, family and those in support of their business, the cutting of the ribbon was the perfect homage to the hard work they have put forth in the past year to make their dream come true!
