Marist Red Foxes Football Falls to St. Thomas

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Marist football team was defeated by St. Thomas, 38-24, in a Pioneer Football League game at Tenney Stadium on Saturday.

A Family Weekend crowd of 4,632 attended Saturday’s game, marking the second-largest total in the 16-year history of Tenney Stadium.

St. Thomas jumped out to a 21-3 halftime lead, and although Brock Bagozzi threw three touchdown passes in the second half, the Red Foxes were unable to erase their deficit.

Bagozzi was 23-for-39 for 269 yards, with three touchdowns and two interceptions. His touchdown passes went to Max Mazzella, Brandon Lombana, and Will Downes.

Amin Woods led the Red Foxes with 44 rushing yards, and also caught a team-high seven passes.

Brett Landis had a team-high 72 receiving yards on six receptions.

Teddy Wright had a game-high 13 tackles, followed by Clayborne Fields III with 11.

Isiah Smith had five tackles and three pass break-ups. Tyhir Harley had two pass break-ups and an interception.

The Red Foxes forced three turnovers. Aaron Acosta recovered a fumble that was forced by

Miles Kauderer, and Anthony Comestro forced a fumble that Kolbe Benham recovered.

St. Thomas had a 460-324 advantage in total yards. The Tommies held the Red Foxes to 53 yards in the first half.

St. Thomas had a 39:12-20:48 advantage in time of possession.

St. Thomas was 8-for-17 on third down, and Marist was 4-for-13.

Marist will travel to Stetson on Saturday, Oct. 8.
