Mount Tennis Suffers a Skyline Road Loss

PATCHOGUE – Playing for the first time since September 24, the Mount Saint Mary College Women’s Tennis team took to the road Saturday afternoon and battled hard in an 8-1 loss to St. Joseph’s-L.I. Carly Green picked up the team’s lone win in singles play.

Mount Saint Mary dropped all three doubles matches, but were edged slightly in 8-5 defeats at the first and second positions. Julia Flynn teamed with Sadie McNair at the top flight, with Green teaming with Victoria Valencia at the second slot.

The top three singles positions were all hard fought on Saturday, with Green outlasting her opponent at the second position for the team’s lone win of the day. She rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) triumph for her third singles win of the season.

Playing at the top flight, McNair was edged in a hard fought 6-7 (5-7), 2-6 decision with Flynn battling in a 4-6, 1-6 loss at the third position.

Following Saturday’s loss, Mount Saint Mary falls to 2-6 overall on the season and to 0-2 in Skyline Conference play. Next up for the Knights is a trip to Manhattanville on October 15.
